Day 25 León to San Martin – A moving rest day

Sadly the spectacularly comfortable bed at Hospitaria Pax did not cure all ills. I still felt obligated to retain a private room lest I sneeze all over everyone all night. However I still wanted to move forward ready to walk again tomorrow without having lost too much time.

The Lady from Atlanta was also needing to stick to a schedule and, yet again, the Rain in Spain was being quite a pain! Locals kept telling us this has been an unseasonably wet year however that was no consolation. To be honest the clouds and rain at least kept the temperatures down and made walking a bit more comfortable when the wind stayed away. But today was again significantly wet. And as the day progressed also significantly windy. The lady at the desk had again told be about the tormentas coming! All sounded very ominous.

Anyway this time I headed over to the hostel to meet the Lady from Atlanta and we found our way to the bus station. There was a German lady there who had hurt her knee and a few other injured warriors keen to at least make the edge of Leon without having to deal with the traffic. To be honest there’s quite a bit of walking getting too and from these estacions whether for Autobus or Tren!

So we stayed on the bus today until San Martin del Camino which I had walked to last time with my beloved and stayed in the Municipal albergue with all the Italians. Yes I do love Italians despite my constantly complaining about them being too loud in the albergues. This time however I took a private room in a new albergue with a swimming pool and the lady from Atlanta had a dormitory all to herself. I did stick my feet in the pool and I would have jumped in and enjoyed it had the following two requirements been met:- 1. I was not sick and 2. The sun was out and therefore a little warmer. The pool missed my presence on both counts!

The Albergue itself was very new and very clean and my room was surprisingly comfortable but cost nearly as much as the room at Pax which was far superior and had a king size bed! 57 v 70 Euro FYI.

The food was innovative and tasty too!

Anyway this second moving rest day gave us an opportunity to do some washing and again, hopefully return to good health. Slight hiccup was that you had to go outside to the lavandaria! Oh well we managed to sneak our visits in without getting too cold or too wet.

The evening pilgrim meal was probably the tastiest so far. I know it looks like it was just a chicken leg but it was a very tasty chicken leg.

So the tormentas came and went into the evening and I went to sleep hoping tomorrow would bring sunshine good health and joy. And a chance to see the super moon!

Buenas Noches.
