I assure you there is nothing worse when you are using a fold up keyboard and a phone to blog than accidentally deleting your draft!
It has happened more than once!
Anyway I have fallen behind a little so thought I’d do a quick catchup on a couple of days as I am getting very close to Santiago and want to keep you in the loop. Let’s hope it’s not an end with a bang like last time I walked this camino!

So my friend Michelle had to head home today and I definitely needed another moving rest day to give these antibiotics a chance to work. We therefore decided to taxi into Sarria to get me back on the normal camino and give her a chance to get home in one day. Suffice to say the Spanish train system made that challenge a little more complicated than it needed to be with a cancelled train and a replacement bus and no notification to the people on the platform! Sarria is where a lot of tour groups start and is the closest you need to start the Frances from if you want to get the compestela. The Choirmaster referred to it as Disney camino and, looking at the trinkets and t shirts available in all the shops, I cannot really disagree.
For me I was able to have an early checkin and a wander around Sarria. I had never stayed here before so it was a chance to test out the hospitality. As it turned out my rest day required a very steep climb up a lot of stairs and another hill to reach the recommended pizza place at the top of the hill. It was still a rest day but just not as restful as I had hoped!

The Lady from Atlanta arrived at the hostel later after walking from Triacastela and we headed to a closer restaurant for dinner. All in all I’d say the food in Sarria was top notch after pilgrim menus and bread with your bread for weeks.
We had an early night in readiness to start the last 100 kilometres on the morrow. We were going to head out to Portomarin – the first stop on this section of the camino.
Buenas noches
