Day 7 A rest day – in our opinion of course! Ciraquie to Estella 15.72km 5.37 hours

So this morning I had ordered the breakfast, para llevar = to take away – you know bread bread and a bit of bread 🥖. But Juan mixed it up a notch. Of course there was bread – jamon y queso (ham and cheese) sin butter, a muffin, an apple and a popper (as we call them in Oz) all in a brown paper bag. It felt like mum had packed my lunch. I had a sip or two of the popper and left it – too heavy, I chomped on the bread and washed it down with water. I was on my way. I said see you in 14 minutes and headed off for some morning photos. All a bit of a challenge to process enroute so stay tuned for later.

Anyway one or two unusual characters passed by before Janine and the chandelier lady showed up. Chandelier lady decided to have second breakfast on a bridge in the middle of nowhere. Well it wasn’t nowhere really however I was deeply concerned for her safety.

She balanced well and I’m not sure she was too concerned so I plodded on In fact we all plodded on and I was soon filled with enthusiasm certain a tunnel of great significance was nearby. Probably doesn’t mean that much to most but to me it was special as memories of husbands harmonica playing filled me with joy.

Janine was not a harmonica player- nor was she my husband, however she managed to wander through at just the right time and made my day.

A lovely day of rural vistas ensued but let it not be said there were no ups and downs. There were always ups and downs. This was not quite as traumatic as yesterday’s ups and downs. But they were genuine ups and downs!

We arrived in Estella before siesta so the shops were still opened. Yay~ I had to treat myself to a special pastry on my way to my single room. Yay again!

I am not sure why on earth I don’t remember this constant stream of ups and downs. Let’s hope tomorrow is a less strenuous day!

Buenas noches!
