It was a beautiful morning to start. I would even suggest it was quite mild. The clouds had rolled in across the valley below and the country looked almost green which was a welcome change from the last two weeks.

We knew we were in for a hot day again and noted a river pool was located in the small village below. We meandered our way back down the range and, rather than rush to our next stop in Felzins we did what any smart pilgrims would do.

We stopped at the bakery!

After this stop we visited the little village of Livinhac-Le-haut and checked out the church and car park facilities.

We returned to the bakery for more sustenance, and cold drinks, then we located the pool and set up day camp to escape the heat of the day. The Madame in the bakery was clearly tormented by our numerous visits! English speaking was not her thing and us speaking French with an English accent didn’t seem to bring her much joy either. But we kept returning which was clearly blowing her mind and leaving her in a state of confusion.

We enjoyed a few hours at the river making use of fans and umbrellas again and felt content with our decision to catch a taxi to our next accommodation after exhausting ourselves with a final trip to the bakery.

The Choirmaster and Linda the Lifesaver just slipped back in to pilgrim mode washing clothes and recovering from the hard day we had endured. I had sought an early checkin due to continuing foot pain but sadly we only managed an extra 1/2 hour – anyway we all arrived exhausted at the lovely gite in the smaller village of Felzins. Exhaustion was due to all the bakery visits and the hours at the river – Fortunately we arrived just in time for another swim in the sparkling pool and then enjoyed an entertaining communal meal with the owners and two French couples – one exploring with their children and the other taking a break from theirs! We then settled in to our abode and responded to family and friends reassuring them we were far from the fires impacting great areas of France and Spain.

Tomorrow would bring new challenges- not whether to walk or taxi but how far to taxi in this continuing heat wave! A bientot!
